Realme Narzo 70 Review

Realme just dropped two fresh phones in their Narzo series – the Narzo 70 5G and the Narzo 70x 5G. We already had our hands on the Narzo 70x, so it’s time to shine the spotlight on the Narzo 70 5G. If you’re curious about what sets the slightly pricier Narzo 70 apart, I’ll break it down for you before diving into the nitty-gritty.

The Narzo 70 5G steps up its game with a better processor, a beefed-up selfie camera, and an on-display fingerprint sensor (versus the side-mounted one on the Narzo 70x). These upgrades make sense considering the price gap. But wait, there’s more. The Narzo 70 comes with a smaller screen (6.67 inches) compared to the Narzo 70x (6.72 inches).

Realme Narzo 70 Review

Plus, while the Narzo 70x supports Bluetooth v5.3, the Narzo 70 goes with Bluetooth v5.2. Lastly, expandable storage on the Narzo 70 tops out at 1TB via an SD card, whereas the 70x supports up to 2TB. These twists might leave you scratching your head, especially for a phone that’s Rs 4,000 more expensive. But let’s set that aside and see how the Narzo 70 5G handles daily tasks.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset in the Narzo 70 keeps things running smoothly, even with demanding jobs. For its price, it gives you a top-notch display and a respectable camera. Yet, it struggles a bit with getting skin tones right and the selfie camera falters in low-light. Overall, if you’re after performance, this phone’s a solid choice.

Design and Display

The Narzo 70 5G looks pretty much like its siblings, the Narzo 70 Pro and the Narzo 70x 5G. It sports a two-tone matte and glossy finish on the back, with the top glossy and the bottom matte. Cameras sit neatly in the middle on the back, with an LED flash on top. Despite the camera bump, the phone stays steady on flat surfaces. It comes in Ice Blue and Forest Green, and I got my hands on the Ice Blue variant, which looks quite nice.

You still get a trusty 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a relief in this price bracket. The USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and SIM slot are at the bottom, while the volume and power buttons are on the right. At 7.97mm thick and 188 grams, it’s easy to handle and carry around.

Now, onto the screen. You’re treated to a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It can hit a peak brightness of 2000 nits, making it easy on the eyes even under the sun. With thin bezels, watching videos is immersive, and gaming feels super smooth. Overall, it’s one of the best displays you can snag in this price range.

Realme Narzo 70 Review – Cameras

The Narzo 70 boasts a 50MP AI main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP Mono camera for backup. It offers a bunch of modes, including Night Mode and Portrait Mode. Video-wise, it supports up to 4K recording and has some cool modes like Slow Motion and Time-lapse. The main camera captures good details, but struggles a bit with skin tones. In low light, Night Mode kicks in and does a decent job.

The selfie camera, however, is a bit of a letdown indoors or in low light. It tends to struggle with focus and detail. In good lighting, though, it can snap some nice shots.

Performance and Software

The Narzo 70 flexes its muscles with a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip, 8GB RAM, and 128GB storage (expandable up to 1TB). It breezes through games and apps without breaking a sweat, thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate and the option to turn storage into extra RAM. Benchmarks show it holding its own against competitors.

It runs on ColorOS 14 out of the box, with a bunch of pre-installed apps. Some handy features include Split View for multitasking and Quick Launch for easy access to your faves.

Battery and Charging

With a hefty 5,000mAh battery and 45W fast charging support, the Narzo 70 keeps you juiced up for a good while. It takes around 52 minutes to go from 20% to full, and in regular use, it easily lasts a day.

Final Thoughts

The Narzo 70 is a solid all-rounder. Its standout features include the vibrant display and fast charging, but there are some camera quirks to keep in mind. At its current price, it’s a decent pick, but if you can stretch your budget a tad, there are even better options like the iQOO Z9(Review) and Vivo T3.
