Vivo X100 Pro and X100 Launching Globally

The much-anticipated Vivo X100 Pro and Vivo X100 are ready to make their international debut! In the realm of compact smartphone cameras, Vivo recognizes the pivotal role of lenses. This emphasis on lens enhancements is a standout feature in its latest flagship smartphones.

Vivo X100 Pro and X100 Launching Globally

After an initial launch in China on November 13th, the Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro are now set to conquer the global market, equipped with matching 6.78-inch 120Hz OLED screens.

Vivo X100 Pro & X100 Regional Availability

The X100 is poised to hit Southeast Asian markets, including the diverse landscapes of India and Indonesia. Meanwhile, the more advanced X100 Pro is gearing up to make waves in European markets. Notably, the United States won’t be part of the initial release.

Camera Marvels: X100 Pro Takes the Lead

Following the success of its predecessor, the X90 Pro, the X100 Pro boasts a massive 50-megapixel one-inch-type main camera – a substantial leap in sensor size by smartphone standards. Vivo proudly introduces “Optical Precision Calibration” to ensure consistent sharpness and quality.

Telephoto Triumph: A Closer Look

The X100 Pro’s 50-megapixel telephoto camera receives a noteworthy upgrade, boasting 4.3x optical magnification compared to the previous model’s 2x. Introducing the APO designation, a term coined by Zeiss for a lens designed to minimize chromatic aberration. Notably, there’s also a floating lens element, enhancing the capability for close-up photography with the tele lens.

X100: A Solid Performer

In contrast, the X100 adopts a more standard 50-megapixel 1/1.49-inch-type main camera sensor and a 64-megapixel 3x optical telephoto. While lacking the floating element, both devices benefit from Zeiss coatings on their lenses. Both phones include 50-megapixel ultrawide cameras and a secondary imaging chip, with the X100 sporting an older V2 and the Pro featuring the latest V3, enabling stunning 4K cinematic portrait videos.

Under the Hood: Powered by MediaTek’s Finest

Both the X100 and X100 Pro run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 flagship chipset. In a departure from the norm, Vivo maintains uniformity with the same 6.78-inch OLED panel featuring a 120Hz refresh rate for both devices. Additionally, they both boast an IP68 rating, ensuring resistance against dust and water. The primary differences lie in the detailed camera specifications.

A Glimpse into the Future: X100 Pro vs. Galaxy S24 Ultra?

Vivo’s earlier X90 Pro showed promise in camera tests against the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The company continues its strategy of large image sensors, promising advantages like superior baseline noise performance and more authentic bokeh. However, Samsung‘s “more pixels, more better” philosophy often took the lead. It’s heartening to see Vivo doubling down on lens quality, aiming to address concerns noted in previous tests.

Pricing Details Under Wraps

Vivo has chosen to keep European pricing information under wraps due to an embargo. However, it has disclosed that the X100 Pro will retail for HK$7,998 in Hong Kong, approximately €937 or $1,024. Meanwhile, the non-Pro X100 will be priced at HK$5,998, translating to around $768 or €702. Get ready for a smartphone experience that transcends borders!
